Benefits for your laundry

Here’s a breakdown of the benefits of each ingredient in your laundry routine:
1. Handmade Goat Milk Soap
  • Gentle Cleaning – Effectively lifts dirt and grime while being mild on fabrics.
  • Moisturizing – The natural fats in goat milk help prevent fabrics from becoming overly dry or brittle.
  • Chemical-Free – Lacks synthetic detergents, making it ideal for sensitive skin and baby clothes.
  • Deodorizing – Naturally neutralizes odors without harsh fragrances.
2. Borax
  • Water Softening – Helps break down minerals in hard water, allowing soap to lather better.
  • Stain Removal – Lifts stubborn stains, including grease and protein-based stains.
  • Whitening Power – Brightens whites and removes dullness from fabrics.
  • Odor Control – Neutralizes and eliminates musty or sweaty smells.
3. Washing Soda (Sodium Carbonate)
  • Deep Cleaning – Helps break down grease, dirt, and stains for a thorough clean.
  • Boosts Soap Efficiency – Increases the effectiveness of soap by raising the pH level.
  • Water Softening – Prevents mineral buildup in fabrics and washing machines.
  • Brightens Clothes – Keeps colors vibrant and whites bright.
4. Epsom Salts (Magnesium Sulfate)
  • Fabric Softening – Naturally softens clothes without synthetic fabric softeners.
  • Reduces Residue – Helps rinse away detergent buildup that can cause stiffness.
  • Odor Removal – Absorbs and neutralizes strong smells, leaving clothes fresher.

Evelyn Jane here... the blog started as a way to have some recipes always available for my children when they left home and wanted to cook some of their favs. Then I added some farm topics, then I started selling soap to stores and wanted a way for them to have all the information they wanted plus printable graphics. So now, it's a pretty diverse space of topics, but it's also 100% me. I am a soap maker, but also a small farmer of goats and chickens, a gardener, a cook, baker, sewist, crafter, reader, a business owner, naturalist, herbalist... I happily wear a lot of hats!

I hope you find some topics that you enjoy here!
