    Buttermilk Pie (my 2nd fav)

    Makes 1 pie Preheat oven to 425. Turn down to 325 when you put the pie in. You may need to protect the edges with foil. 1 stick of real, unsalted butter, melted. Do this now, then it will be ready after you measure everything else. 1 1/2 cups buttermilk 3 large eggs 1 cup of raw sugar or regular sugar 3 Tablespoons flour 1 Tbsp lemon juice or zest if available 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg Mix all together. Pour into prepared crust. Bake for about 45 minutes. Ke

    Pumpkin or Squash Pie (my favorite)

    This is a pie I have been making for too many years to count! I just know the recipe and make it with butternut squash more then pumpkin, but always pumpkin for Thanksgiving! Try it and it may quickly become your favorite as well! Makes 2 pies. 1- 15oz can of pureed pumpkin or about 1 1/2 cups fresh pureed pumpkin or squash 1- can of evaporated milk 3 whole eggs 3/4 cup packed brown sugar 1 Tablespoon cornstarch or arrowroot 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp ground ginger 1/2 tsp s

    The most simple, yet vitally important pie crust! Here’s the one I use always! I want to say that it originated from Martha Steward, like 20 something years ago when she was on TV at 10am and opened the door to the entire world to this small town crazy girl. I miss that show.
